XERF vs. The Competition

Why This Is the Most Advanced Skin Tightening Available

You have options. Here is what separates them.

Non-surgical skin tightening has come a long way. Ultherapy changed the conversation. Thermage made RF mainstream. Sofwave made ultrasound more comfortable. Each one was a real step forward at the time.

But XERF is not the next step. It is a different category entirely.

Here is an honest breakdown of how each technology works, and why we chose XERF.

The Devices You Have Probably Heard Of

Ultherapy. Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound to target deep tissue, including the SMAS layer, the same layer addressed in a surgical facelift. It has a strong track record for significant lifting. The tradeoff is the experience. Ultherapy is difficult to perform, requires an experienced practitioner, and can be painful, with the potential risk of unintentional fat loss or nerve damage. Most patients require oral medication or topical numbing, and results develop gradually over two to six months.

Thermage. Thermage uses single-frequency radiofrequency at 6.78 MHz to stimulate collagen and tighten skin. It is a proven technology that has been used for years. But it delivers more superficial tightening, without the deeper lift you get with XERF. It can also be uncomfortable and lacks customization, with fixed cooling cycles and manual impedance monitoring.

Sofwave. Sofwave uses synchronous ultrasound to target the mid-dermis at a fixed depth of 1.5mm. It is a comfortable, effective treatment for mild skin laxity and surface texture. But that fixed depth is also its limitation. Sofwave treats only at 1.5mm, producing superficial tightening rather than the deeper structural tightening seen with XERF. Topical numbing is still recommended for most Sofwave patients.

Emface. Emface combines HIFES (high-intensity facial electromagnetic stimulation) with radiofrequency to contract facial muscles and heat skin in one session. The concept targets both muscle tone and skin tightening. XERF instead focuses on structural RF tightening with adjustable depth and active cooling, delivering energy precisely where it is needed. If you want deeper RF tightening with adjustable depth and cooling, XERF is the better fit.

What XERF Does Differently

XERF combines the strengths of two approaches long used in aesthetics: deep SMAS remodeling and radiofrequency skin tightening, delivered together in one treatment without downtime.

Here is what makes XERF genuinely different:

Dual-frequency delivery. Thermage uses one frequency. XERF uses two, 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, reaching shallow, middle, and deep layers at once, including the SMAS.

AI-guided precision. XERF uses AI to measure the skin's depth and set the optimal treatment depth and energy level for each patient. Every treatment is calibrated in real time to your specific skin profile.

Genuine comfort, no numbing required. XERF delivers up to 12 cooling bursts per pulse, allowing higher energy with minimal discomfort. Ultherapy and Thermage typically require numbing cream or oral pain medication. XERF does not.

Immediate results, then continued improvement. XERF shows visible tightening right away that keeps building over three to six months.

Who XERF Is For

XERF is ideal if you have mild to moderate skin laxity and want real, structural results without surgery, needles, or downtime. It is the right choice if comfort matters to you, if you want results you can see right away, and if you want a treatment calibrated specifically to your skin.

It is not a replacement for every treatment on this list. If you have significant laxity, a consultation with our clinical team will determine the right approach for your goals.

Results You Can See

Many patients notice tightening after their first session. The deeper change happens over the following 4 to 12 weeks as collagen remodeling continues beneath the surface. Clinical studies show XERF builds collagen at multiple tissue depths.
